Gossip is usually based on something, so there are two cases: what they are saying is true, or what they are saying isn't. In the first case, if what they are saying is true then you can't blame them. If what they are saying is false, just be yourself and your actions will erase any speculation.

Honestly, there is nothing you can do to stop the mouths of other people. All one can do is if it is not the truth and it is just gossip, ignore it. I'm not saying that is easy, however, I have always believed that If I do not have anything to worry about and I live my life straight, it will show. People are always watching us, they will see the REAL you and the truth will be known by your right actions at all times. Let them gossip, it will make them turn up on the low end of the weigh scale.

In Europe and russia there is an amulet of glass called an "evil eye" it absorbs the "evil spirits" and breaks when full.. The other is to become strong in yourself, gossip is only fun when it hurts someone. If you are confident in your own actions then that is the best defense. Sometimes people gossip as if you have done something bad when it is actually a noble/good quality. This takes a lot of self-love to endure but sends a shockwave of truth to the gossipers that hurts them later. This is a good thing to encourage growth in the society

Cut them out of your circle of Friends and make them wonder what you are up to , or make up your own wild story about yourself and see how long it takes the jerk to find out you did it .

Pretend that it doesn't bother you, and if people bring up the rumors, simply say "I don't care about such things."
