I always get vision distortion as a precursor to my migraines. To be more specific, I start to see pink spot. Then the neck pain starts, followed by the nausea, shoulder pain, light sensitivity then the mother of all headaches. My migraines usually put me out of comission for several hours, and I even had one last a full day before. Since I get them so infrequently (about 4-5 a year), I am not on any prescribed meds. I try to lie in a dark room with a cold cloth over my forehead and eyes, and also a cold cloth across my shoulders around my neck. This seems to help and I try to sleep it off.

Yes those are all symtoms of a migraine, I love Excedrine but make sure that if you take it you use the right one such as the day or night since the day contains a lot of caffeine. Take it as soon as you start feeling the symptoms such as seeing the aura (your zigzag shape), for some it's a circle or blotch, it can also start out like motion sickness does. If it's too late then don't be afraid to tell people to give you some space, just say migraine and most will understand, if they don't oh well. If you get them often such as more than twice a month it would be a good idea to see a doctor since they can help you avoid the migraine triggers.

yes that is the auora.take the pain meds as soon as that happens, usually a prescription med will be the only thing that works..rarely have I found that an over the counter pill will work, and get out of the light/sunlight right away.rest in a dark room. In extreme cases go to the out patient dept they will give you a treatment either in a shot or iv drip form.ask your doc for a migraine med to have on hand for such emergencies.

This could be a migraine. When I get mine, the vision in my right eye gets really bad, my eyes are sensitive to light, I get nausea and a sharp, throbbing pain behind my right eye. Hope you feel better. If you get them too often try talking to your doctor about taking something to prevent them. I take Inderal LA 80mg to prevent them. I used to get 5-6 a month and now I only get them once in a while. The inderal doesn't work to stop the pain but they help prevent. Good luck

I do not get migraines, but my daughter has suffered with them for several years and she is only 17. She often feels nauseated, and will have everything go black as if she passes out for a few seconds. She has had blurred vision, and I believe the sparkly vision you spoke of. She has also had the numbness.

Sounds like one to me. Usually, anything that affects vision is proof of a migraine... since it is the optic nerve that a migraine effects... Your doctor should be able to diagnose it rather quickly and give you a rx that would work.

It sounds like a migraine. The distorted shape vision is called an aura. If you take medicine as soon as you have the aura you can keep the headache from getting too bad.

YEP and you want to know who put the combat boots on the cat. See your Dr. mine gave me imatrex injections. This works great but now there is a new pill on the market thats better and no shots< it's a little costly , but worth it. See your Dr. as they only get worse and can be deadly.
