Pretty much the same as a fish would.
Just because cartoons don't draw them with the natural details, doesn't mean they don't have one.

Well.... It is possible that Mermaids do exist... If they do, then they probably have bathrooms. That sounds like a smart azz answer but I'm serious. They wouldnt just go in the water like fish do. They would have a special place (like we do, the bathroom) and do their "dooty," lol... Keep in mind, Mermaids are just like us but have tails and live in the water.

Never thought about it but it must be a reall hassle keeping your fishtail out of the toilet. Or maybe they just go in the ocean.
