white is being used as a synonym for caucasian, that's why.

The better question is this, Does it really matter? I mean at the end of the day, does it really matter if some one thinks Antonio Banderas is white? Take it up with Hollywood.

because he is fair skinned. plus isn't antonio banderas from spain? then he's technically european. white can mean skin color and not necessarily race.
