reguarding Virus-damage to the home pc,sometimes will say that a virus can give your whole -pc irreversible damage?i was on the understanding that once you re-load a OS after a virus episode,that a pc will re-couperate and no component damage will be possible.In any circumstance!software Damage only,not ElECTRONIC OR HARDWARE Damage.am i wrong?

Some malicious viruses can crash the hard drive.
Some viruses can get into the BIOS cache and alter voltage and bus speed settings for RAM chips, but these are RARE, and always check the boot system virus checker is ON in the BIOS.
These viruses are hard to get rid of, because they live in the BIOS, formatting the hard disc will do NOTHING, the next time you start the computer, it is re-infected!
