Okay. So I'm currently a Junior. I have a 3.7 GPA and I'm in top 25% [Yeah.. I know not the brightest cookie in the box.. but I'm trying..].

I was wondering.. if I don't do as hot as I should on the SAT's would my GPA and class ranking help me a bit? Or none at all?

Also.. since I am a junior, would taking the SAT in January be a good idea? After recieving results [if they're good results] would it be too early to apply for the college that I wish to attend? Would they accept me even if I am a Junior now? Because by the time results come in and transcripts and applications are sent, I would be sort of in the transition of becoming a senior in high school anyways right?

Well, anyways, just trying to get a head start. It's MUCHLY appreciated.

Hm.. I forgot to add. Since Freshman year I've been taking AP and Pre-AP classes. The only weighted [or above normal but below Pre-AP or AP classes] I've taken is Pre-Cal.

Sorry, the college that I am shooting for is UTA, University of Texas at Arlington. I am wanting to major in Media Art.

Right now in high school the only extra curricular classes I take is Choir, but I am also very active in the theatre department as well. Plus, I also take part in the school spirit team.

I was probably in the higher percentage since we had almost 1000 students per class, but my GPA was similar to yours. I did better than "average" (500 across the board is supposedly average), but my SATs weren't what you'd call great. If you're concerned about your stats, it depends on where you want to go and where you reside. Then there are extracurricular activities, essays, and rec's to consider if you need them.

It should be okay to take your SATs in January if you plan to apply in senior year. To my knowledge, it would be too early/late to apply to the college you wish to apply when you're still a junior. Early because well, you're a junior. Late because it's probably past the deadline depending on the school. It doesn't hurt to try though. Well, okay, it may hurt your wallet if you don't use a fee waiver...

Otherwise, you can just relax. :)

It is nearly imipossible to answer this question without knowing anything about the schools that are of interest to you for college. If you are thinking Ivy League then no, these credentials probably wont' get you in (however, if you are applying as a legacy - your parents went to that school - and/or have a lot of interesting extracurriculars and possibly some very special unique talent then you may still have a chance).

If you're thinking certain regional schools or second-tier liberal arts colleges then I would think these credentials are reasonable.

FYI, receive is spelled with e before the i.:-)

most schools look mainly at your ACT/SAT and your non-elective classes GPA
