Like Hitler, Stalin, Po Pot, Edi Amin, ect... all of whom were non-religious? No, lust for power and need to defend one's self leads to wars.

Not exactly, but as a catalyst to unite the people against a
common enemy or as an excuse. If Bush had more of a
"crusader" image, I would definitely say he could have more
votes in his favor. The Islamics on the other hand have been
more successful convincing its believers that this conflict or
war is against their religion.

More wars have been fought over religion and an attempt to spread it than for any other reason. Christianity is the worst of the lot.....think of all the wars that have been fought to spread Christianity. And let's not forget the Inquisition which specialized in torture of supposed non-believers. I doubt that any of that was in keeping with what Jesus Christ was teaching.

It's the main cause. These wars have been going on since the beginning of recorded time. Land would be next.

I'd replace "religion" with "a rejection of reason". It's the broader concept that includes religion and other ideals that put individuals down to elevate something else (god, group, race, planet...).

Only if your religion is radical Islam! I'm sorry, but if a religion requires a person to murder someone; that religion is truly vain! Well, not only is it vain, but it could'nt possibly be the true path to heaven!

If you look at the history of religion, you would see acts that range from the most inhumane to the most enlightened......so I guess it is up to the individual to choose which one they want to represent them.
