Sunnis and Shiites clearly want to kill each other, maybe even more than they want to kill the infidels. They can't devote all of their Jihadist energy on us when they are busy fighting over who will rule the caliphate.
Iraqis had a chance at a democratically elected government. But obviously, democracy and Islam are like oil and water. Maybe we should step back and let them sort it out. Maybe after enough muslim on muslim killing, all of the imams, clerics, ayatollahs, and mullahs will sit down and have their version of a Vatican Council or Reformation, and learn how to practice their religion while being tolerant of the rest of the world.

FRAGINAL-... AKO....The conflict between Sunnis and Shiites started centuries before America existed, so you can't blame that one on the U.S.

Whattupfool...It's interesting to see you refer to the middle east as if the whole thing is a sovereign nation. Of course that is what the Islamo-Fascist pigs (oops, they don't like pork do they?) want: a muslim caliphate that dominates the middle east and beyond. The middle east cannot equal the U.S. as a superpower economically or otherwise for a few resons. Saudi Arabia possesses 25% of the world's proven petroleum reserves, ranks as the largest exporter of petroleum, yet they rank 74 in per capita GDP, behind the likes of Belgium, Gibraltar, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, etc. Iran has amassed some $40 billion in foreign exchange reserves, but have not eased economic hardships such as high unemployment and inflation. Why? They are theocracies that put religion ahead of their peoples well being. Its a fairy tale to believe that if the U.S. leaves the middle east, they rise like a phoenix from the ashes. Islam, and the teachers of its most violent tenets, will never allow it.

There is no room in a theocracy for economic development, entrepeneurship, and capital growth. That would be a threat to the ayatollahs, mullahs, and religious fanatics. There is no room in Islam for a booming economy that allows the common man to better himself. This is too dangerous. The majority of the middle eastern peoples live under the boot of militant Islam. The Saudi Royal family, the UAE, Qatar, amass fortunes for themselves, and pay off the Jiahdists to turn their violence outward. They build madrassas, buy protection by funding Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, and **** on their own people. And of course, to equal the power of the U.S. economy would require following international laws, and that simply won't do. Because that would mean human rights for its people (i.e. womens rights, non-muslim rights). That would mean no more beheadings, chopping off hands, stonings, genital mutilation, you get the idea. A muslim theocracy without bloody punishments? Not a chance.

And I am glad that Discovery managed to dig up some Imams that forbid suicide bombers. That is just SWELL!! Because Iran has an army of suicide bombers. They sign up more everyday. But maybe they give a away free burkas for filling out an application, like in the U.S. where you get a free t-shirt for applying for a credit card! The ayatollahs and imams in Iran don't seem to have a problem with suicide bombers. They fund Hezbollah, who has their own army of them. I mean, are you serious? 5 imams on Discovery say its wrong, and that is supposed to change my mind about your "peaceful" cult? The population of Islam just decreased by roughly 25% apparently. Apparently you disregard the calls everyday from muslim leaders around the world for more volunteers in the righteous Jihad against the West by killing themselves. I'm sorry, but I cannot close my eyes, plug my ears, and keep my mouth shut to help propogate your myth of peaceful Islam.
