During the summer, the earth is tilted on its axis such that your hemisphere gets more direct sunlight. This explains both why the days are longer and why they are hotter in the summer.

If you have a globe handy, try this:
Find the line of latitude labeled the "tropic of cancer" (~25° N). Now hold something like a ball over this line and spin the globe. This mimics the longest days of the northern hemisphere's summer. Conversely, it also represents the shortest days of the southern hemisphere's winter.

It's all based on the tilt of the earth on it's axis. During the summer, the earth is tilted towards the sun, meaning it takes longer for the sunlight to clear the area as the earth turns.

In winter, the opposite occurs......by tilting away from the sun, darkness arrives sooner and lasts longer.

particular, the summer season Solstice is June 21 that's the longest day of the year. we've approximately 12 hours of light and 12 of darkish. After June 21, the days grow to be shorter a couple of minutes each and every day, culminating into the shortest day of the year, the wintry climate equinox, the place there is only approximately 10 hours of light.
