They are brownies. Only Michigan people call them bars. Anything that is chocolate or fudgy, made in a flat pan, has nuts or can be neutered is a brownie. Regardless of shape. Period!
There are also blonde brownies.
Anything made with lemon filling, other types of fruits, nuts, or flavors is a bar, dammit!
