UCLA is more prestigious. Most make fun of USC. I know I do. Losers. But really, UCLA is viewed as the better school.

Very generally speaking on average it is probably fair to say that UCLA is a better school. That said, depending on the topic, USC may be better. For example, in Communication, USC has one of the best programs in the entire country (if not the world). Moreover, as a private school, it may have certain resources that may be lacking at UCLA.

Overall, UCLA has more top-ranked programs than USC does.

However, a prospective student needs to look at what he/she is individually looking for in a university, and find the best fit.

I think UCLA is better overall. UCLA has better engineering programs (specifically electrical) than USC.
