3+6x=4x+9
-first you subtract so that the x's are on the same side and the normal numbers on a different side.
if you subtract from one side, you must do the same with the other side of the equation.
3+6x+(-3)+(-4x)=4x+9+(-4x)+(-3)
2x=6
-divide 2 from both sides as it is the common factor.
2x/2=6/2
x=3

The easiest way to solve this problem is by first moving the terms with X in them to one side of the equation and the plain numbers to the other side. Then divide by the number that X is multiplied by.
(and I really hope you're not using Y! answers to answer every question on your homework instead of doing the work yourself. This is simple algebra.)
