All you have to do is make sure the x is all by itself on one side of the equation.
You do that by subtracting that 1/2 from both sides.
x + 1/2 - 1/2 = 9 - 1/2
x = 9-1/2
So what is 9-1/2? You have to convert that 9 to a fraction. Since you want it over 2, multiply the 9 by 2/2 to get:
18/2 - 1/2
Then subtract the numerators.
x = 17/2

well this looks like a homework problem so im not going to give you the answer.. i will help you tho
in order to solve the problem you have to get "x" by itself
that means you have to take "1/2" away from both sides of the equation
so that would look like x + 1/2 -1/2 = 9 - 1/2
hope you can figure it out from there!

You wouldn't suck at math so much if you didn't abuse Yahoo! Answers to do your homework and actually tried it yourself. And if you really don't understand Algebra ask a teacher or someone who can teach you how to do it rather than have random strangers give you all the answers. It's not that hard if you actually apply yourself.

wait...is it (x+1)/2=9
or x + 1/2=9?
it is the first one, then the answer is 17
if the equation is the second one, then the answer is 8.5
