it of course depends on the couple
i have been with my boyfriend for 3 1/2 years now and he lives 5 hours away - its been hard but its working for us
but to figure it out on your own you need to ask yourself if you can trust the person you want to have this relationship with and if you are truely commited to sticking it out even when it gets annoying that they cant be there with you sometimes
if your answer is no then i'd say dont bother - but if it's yes you have a good shot!

There are so many factors involved.
My short answer is yes, with extra effort.
All relationships take work. And I feel sorry for all the people that said no so quickly...they obviously haven't found their true love.
If you love someone and you are meant to be, it will work out. Both partners have to be committed to the relationship.
But every relationship is work and effort, if you live in the same town it would still take commitment and time and a willingness to be in the relationship.
It's not the fear of getting caught that prevents people from cheating, it's the love and respect they have for each other.
Some relationships break down because the couple moves in together.
Everyone is different. If you like this person and are willing to try then go for it. If you think it may be a strain then maybe this isn't the right time to start a relationship.
Whatever you decide, good luck.

I was naive enough once to think it could. Maybe it could, but you'd both have to be willing to work on the relationship...I was in a relationship in the military and unfortunately it was the military that separated us by moving us across thousands of miles from each other. I eventually stopped hearing from him but to this day, 7 years later, I still think about him and wonder how he's doing. He was the only guy I ever fell in love with and I never gave up on us but apparently he did. The biggest heartbreak of my life!

I think it's only a temporary thing. Nothing like a local relationship.

If people are committed to the effort it takes, I believe so.
