You really don't know? It's pretty self-explanatory. Being literate doesn't provide any advantage TO you if you don't take advantage OF it. You could write about how much importance is placed on literacy in our society, while almost no emphasis is placed on reading as a hobby and a passion (which is still the most effective way to aquire knowledge).

It has some truth as do many generalizations.Try a substitute .The man who watches NBC news even in depth may have no advantage over the man who does not.Try these topics in a truth table.
