Its brown-black one from a salad from a resturant.

I am not sure if it was pickled or not. I hate olives. I didn't eat it. A friend of mine did.

But I am wondering if I could grow some trees out of these four pits I have.

Possibly.Just give it the right conditions.Try planting one in the olive itself.

Any olives you buy or eat will be pickled, so it would be infertile. You would need to find fresh olives that were ripe, in order for seed to be viable. I thik they grow them in California.

No. The processing of olives into the form edible by people would have killed the seed.
