I'm mexican and I worked in Grand Oasis Cancun. It's not good to say bad things about a company in which a person has worked, but it's an exemtion.
Oasis hotels offers a good price but they affect quality. Once, when I worked at the front desk, the AC was broken and we suffer ¡more than one month! without AC, and the boss didn't want to buy fans, because the hotel was a ¡five stars hotel!.
The hotel hotel also doesn't spent enough money in maintenance, thats enough to offer a bad service.
I say this because as a mexican that works in the tourism industry I don't like to give a bad image to the tourists.
I don't know Royal Solaris but to give you an idea of what the hotel is, Solaris is one of the hotel that suffer less damages because of the Wilma hurricane in 2005

Check out www.tripadvisor.com and enter Cancun hotels in the search. Take a look at the hotel rankings and read the reviews. Personally, I'd keep looking. The responses below about the Oasis properties are correct - no way I'd stay there. Royal Solaris is a bit iffy as well. The Solaris properties also have service and food quality problems. Keep looking. There are a ton of good hotels in Cancun. if you are booking an all-inclusive vacation stay away from any vacations rated 3 or below. On Apple Vacations their 4-apple hotels are about 3 star.
Good luck!

Cancun can be an open entrance to your dream vacation just such as this place hotelbye for getting there. Cancun offers state-of-the-art lodge facilities among the greatest clubs, bars, and malls just a few legs from the most wonderful beaches on the planet. One of the areas you need to see could be the Isla Mujeres. Here, the cool breezes strike throughout the area through the day and morning and here you will relish: the snorkelling, the scuba, the swimming with dolphins, the remote beaches for moonlight walks and personal talks, and scores of waterfront restaurants surrounded by good buying and wonderful natural scenery. If you're buying a Cancun location place to curl up, Isla Mujeres is the area to come.

Oasis is more central to all the entertainment in Cancun. The Royal Solarsis is so far down on the strip you don't have much shopping or dining choices.

My first trip to Cancun and I stayed at the Oasis. I didn't have A/C in my room even though the ad said all the rooms were air conditioned. I would never go there or recommend it to anyone.
