1.I come from australia. Its called university over here.

There is a big difference between knowing gramma and spelling, and being bothered to use it. Besides.. Australians spell things differently to our American counterparts(i may or may not have spelt American correctly).

Just do it. It's cash in your pocket right? It's also your foot in the door in a research facility.

If you are doing administrative work for the field you want to ultimately be in, they will be more willing to let you do homework at the desk during slow times.

You may even be able to get involved in basic projects that do not require the full degree to work.

If you can make it financially, this is much better than fast food experience. Good Luck!

go for it! show them your potential and work hard, be innovative and go above and beyond and people will remember your name. when you are serious about getting that career position you will need a good reference and solid work experience. you can also use to demonstrate you have knowledge of the research facility culture and will make it more likely you are chosen for a job at a similar facility. before long you'll be rubbing elbows with the upper management if you play your cards right.

It sounds like a good place to start because you would hopefully have the opportunity to get to know professors and such who might hire assistants ... and if you'd like to be an assistant, it would give you an advantage over other applicants. Also, do you get a discount on tuition? That's worth a lot. Also being close to classes and such is very nice. (I've worked on campus before.)

Will they offer you a job like that with just a diploma? Here in the Bay Area those kind of jobs are in demand from people with BA's and even Masters degress.

NO! Go to college! It has been proven that it is much harder to go to college once you have been in the work force. Do it first!
Maybe you could do an intern job there during a summer.
Look for a college that has that as a summer option!

Well - good to know you think you can just get the job without so much as an interview. If you want a job - good luck and hope you are as successful as you seem to think you will be.

Go for it. You have your whole life ahead of you. Might as well experiment a little. You will be more motivated to do other things if this doesn't work out.

Anything in your field is worthy... no matter what the job. You will come into contact with people that can help you when you graduate.
