A republic is when people vote for others to represent them in government. That is the kind of government we have, not a democracy. The colonist idea was that this was better then a kingdom. No taxation without representation was that the British took tax money but gave nothing back. We had no means of redress in the English courts. We were not represented in Parliament. Stamp Act was where the British ordered a tax stamp on anything bought or sold in the colonies. It helped raise money for the king. Even food had to be taxed. Western land disputes, the Shosone Indians fought back about the land grabs the American Government was pulling. The ogv had promised to protect their land against intruders then they sold out.

you forgot the French and Indian War...
The British needed to pay it's war dedt... They decided to tax the colonies. The Stamp act was on of many acts that led to the Boston Tea party... What fianlly ended it was the British occupation of New England... The Americans felt that such a small island can not rule such a large continent. They believed they had nothing really incommon with Britain and tha tthe British was making rules against the Americans... The AMericans got mad and got guns and fought the British... only 1/3 of the Americans supported the Revolution.
