It can work like a kickstand on a bike, so you can lie on your side while you sleep and not fall over.

There are several reasons. First through out the night you will have an erection from time to time and that basically promotes circulation.
In the morning your testosterone level is the highest and your penis is just responding normally to that high level.

Often you wake up with and erection and yet you have no desire for sex - all part of your body taking care of your penis and keeping blood flowing in and out until you are up and awake and moving

It has nothing to do with having to pee. You have to pee when you wake up because you haven't peed for about 8 hours. One of the thing that occurs in REM (dreaming) sleep is an erection in men. Sense most of us are in the middle of a dream when the alarm goes off - we have an erection. This is one way to tell if erectile dysfunction is a physiological or psychological problem. If a man gets his erections during REM sleep it is a psychological problem not physiological.

Easy!!!
Males wake up with erections because you have to p. If you have an erection it closes your penis off from your gladder. I pretty sure u noticed if u have one and goes down u have to use the bath room. So it just helps you not wet your bed.!!!

Why does this question get asked a dozen times a day? Doesn't anybody look at the "resolved questions" section? Or even the questions asked within the last few hours? Why ask it again when it's already been asked a thousand times?

Beacuse God wired us that way.....
But seriously, it could be a few things.
A dream you had.
Your body just circulating blood and testostrone throughout the night and you just get one. just your body doing its thing.
