When it's hard to hear your own thoughts, you have it too loud. Try saying a few words to someone while the music is on and then turn off the music. Then ask them what did you just say. You can probably gauge a level to where you have your music and can be heard. But if the music's so loud that you can't hear yourself talk, then that is way too loud. If you can't hear yourself, no one else will.

The main concern would be w/ deafness. My cousin is partially deaf due to excessive concerts (while I got part deaf in one ear due to a faulty firework. Lucky him). But you should be able to find a happy medium.

I have that same trouble too. I am constantly listening to loud rock and roll, I drive my neighbors nuts!! If you never want to have to turn your tunes down again, do what I did, learn ASL (American sign language). Everyone knows what your saying without having to say a word. Oh, you should always care if your spelling is correct or not, someone might think your ignorant!

I use to be the same way. My parents would have to kick the chair or shake the chair that I was in to get my attention. If I have to talk, I'd take one headphone off of one ear then I could tell how loud I was talking.

Take the dang headphones out of your ears. Really wanna know if someone's hearing you or if you are too loud, take em off. I refuse to speak to people that i can hear the music from their headset when its on their head. I will ignore them, thats what they get. Wanna talk, lets talk. Wanna listen to music, be my guest. Don't expect me to participate with you.
