I have a DELL Lat. CPX with a 500mhz P3,... 1) what is the fastest processor that I can have in it? 2) how can I find -out what pin-out arrangement I have 3) how do I shop for a faster processor for my computer ? ............. thanks

upgrading a laptop's processor is no easy matter. Best is to add more memory and free up hard drive space.

Typically, it doesn't make sense to upgrade a CPU on a laptop. Unlike desktops, the cost of upgrading a CPU is only cost slightly less than buying a new laptop. It is very cramp in a laptop and many components aren't very accessible. Since technology changes rapidly and the cost of laptops are falling, it makes sense to buy a new one.

You have to check your motherboard and what type of processor it was built for, and if there are any compatible upgrades for it. Usually you would have to update the whole laptop.

laptops are not as easily upgradable as are PC's. Better off looking into a new one.
