I am from a technical background and enjoy my current career in software development. However, I do not want to spend my entire career in a cubicle nor manageing other programmers. In know some companies have employees that look for emerging technologies and small companies to acquire. That sounds pretty cool. Does anyone know of any other technology related carrers or job titles/descriptions that require little to no programming?

Get some qualifications in business if you want to move in the direction you suggest. As business roles expand and blend, it's difficult to get people who understand how their key area (technoloty in your case) relates to other areas of business. If you are dual qualified in these two areas I would suggest you would be very well placed to land such a job.

Otherwise consider moving across to networking and hardware. It won't take you long to pick it up and it's a whole different world.
