Well I only started noticing the hiccups about a month ago (I'm 38 weeks), though I think thats around the time they would normally start.

To me they felt like a heart beat to, not as regular as a heart beat and alot stronger but it would happen about every ten seconds for a few minutes and then subside. When I realised what was happening I started laughing!

Its not as hard a kick, its like the baby is doing a little leap inside of you (its really hard to describe), but from what you've said it sounds like the hiccups to me!

From what I know its perfectly normal for the baby to have hiccups, apparently it is them practising using their lungs before they are born. Also they are pretty fast so I wouldn't say it is anything to worry about.

BUT if you are concerned ask your doc/midwife. : )

GOOD LUCK!

When your baby hiccups it will feel almost like a kick but not so hard. And it will most likely happen back to back a couple of times. Congrats on your baby and good luck with everything!!!

Yep, what you are describing is the baby having hiccups! I thought it was my pulse acting weird the first few times...but then I realized what it was. They are really fast sometimes (especially when you first start to feel them) but as you get farther along, the hiccups get farther apart and stronger! When I get them now (37 weeks 4 days) it actually makes my tummy bounce, haha!

Good luck and congrats!!

It won't feel like kicking because kicking is in one little spot. Hiccups make the whole area she is in move and jump. You'll figure it out mommy to be! :P
