She was a Catholic activist - born 1897 and died 1980. She was originally a journalist but turned to social issues. Her deep faith led her to work diligently to improve the condition of the poor and homeless. I haven't heard of Dorothy Day but Doris Day was an actress,singer,dancer back in late 40's-early 50's.The one that did the comedy about Calamady Jane with Howard Keel.
