I'm not a sports fan, but I see that many people love sports because it's a contest of skill -- the good guys win, the losers needed to work harder. Not everyone can be an athelete, and it does take a special gift. And that special gift takes people out of themselves for awhile -- if no one thought they were worth it, atheletes wouldn't get the bucks they do. Considering they can only use that gift for a few years, and may even die in their sport, maybe it's not unreasonable.

I am a reader, and I think a good author is worth every dollar s/he gets. That skill with words and the ability to take me out of my world is soooo worth it! I think that's what sports fans get from a good athelete, too.

Just my two cents. Also, consider, many atheletes give it back once they've made a lot of money, through donations of time and money.

People who think that usually arent athletes and never really have worked hard at a sport or like sports at all. Athleticaly They do things the average person cant do, as well as entertaining millions of people, dealing with alot of pressure, injuries and have to work extremely hard year around, so in my opinion they deserve the money, but then again i love sports

They are entertainers.

Why do people not get mad when Jim Carrey makes $20 million for one movie, but baseball player makes the same amount working year-round? I think it is because they can imagine themselves playing the sport, but they have never acted so they cannot imagine themselves doing that type of work.

I don't think "People" think players are worth millions, BUT the very rich teams and owners want to win and are willing to pay millions to do so. People put up with it for the love of the game.
