yes, I am 17. I was 16 during the last election. I knew more about the canadates than most of the adults I know. my parents and I often talk about what is going on in politics and I know how to make a educated slection. I wish that there were some kind of test (a literacy test or something like it) that people had to take before voting. I know many adults that would fail and many kids my age that would pass. if you take stupid voters out of the picture then the nation has a better chace of getting good leaders. I dont think the question should be about how mature you are, though that does play a part, but about how educated you are.

NO, 14-17 year-olds are not mature enough to vote. Anyway, if people would vote for school levy's then they should also have to pay the bills that come with it. If a 14-17 year old KID could tell me about politics and give me reasons why they are voting for who then yes they should be allowed to vote. But how many kids do you know that watch the news every night? Not Many. Most kids just go along with what their parents say. Most Republican families will stay Republican and most democratic families will stay democratic. Between the ages if 17 and 18 you do mature a little but if you can say that why can't I say: Do you really get more mature between 16 and 17? A age had to be set somewhere and 18 was just the chosen age. We're lucky that it is age 18 because I feel that it could be changed to 21 in the near future because many 18 year olds are not using their privilege to vote, and they should. But NO, 14-17 year-olds should not be allowed to vote.

No, I do not think that most teenagers have the same intelligence and knowledge as adults. Most adults don't even have the intelligence to go out and vote. I don't think so because they are so irrational. If Paris Hilton was running for Governor, I am sure teenagers who are 18 and love her to death would vote for her. Also, no a person cannot get more mature between the ages of 17 and 18. You have to be mature because you want to be, not because of your age.

As a 15 yr old turning 16 I think that we should because we are the future and some of these adults are so stupid and are ******* up our future no offense to anyone. But really some of the choices they make that is supposed to be for the better isn't. Hell they already ****** it up by spoiling their children to core to where they are disrespectful to their own parents. teachers, other adults and even their own damned friends. I would like to vote because I actually like politics and debating in stuff . It would be nice to vote but considering that my generation has a very low expectation and maturity level we shouldn't be allowed to vote till we are 18. Even if they don't mature between 17-18 and 16-17.

No, teens between 14-17 should not be able to vote. The majority of them are not mature enough to understand politics and get the full grasp of what is going on around them. There is a major difference in maturity level between even a 16 year old and an 18 year old.

There are certain things that I didn't understand when I was within that age bracket. Of course, I thought that I knew it all back then, and desperately wanted to vote.
One thing that you will learn is that ALL politicians suck. They will say whatever it takes to get them into office, however, you can only expect about a fifth of what they promise to get done while they are serving their term.
There is a reason, though, that they make you wait until you're a legal adult to vote. If they were to let SOME 14-17 yr olds vote, they would be voting to legalize marijuana and shooting illegal immigrants (some teens, not all). Granted, there are some that are mature enough to cast votes in that age bracket, but the majority of teens are not, therefore, it takes its toll on the rest of you.

When I was a teen I thought the voting age should be lower. About 12 or 13. Now I'm an adult and I still think so. I'm all in favor of lowering the voting age. Too many adults don't have the intelligence or knowledge to vote either. That's how Bush got elected. It will force politicians to deal with issues that affect those of us who will still be alive decades from now. Issues such as national debt and global warming.

Although I'd love a chance to get Bush out of office as much as the next guy, I'd have to say no. There are too many teens who will make an irrational decision when voting, and enough of them to change the results so the wrong guy gets in office. Let the hormones wear off before they're allowed to vote.

No they should not have the right to vote, do es a 16 year old that maybe works part time really care about taxes, foreign affairs, nuclear issues, moral issues, cost of living etc. the answer is NO you may thing you do but until you enter the real world you do not. I am not sure most 18 year olds are mature enough to vote responsibly, but if you are old enough to die for your country (enroll in the military, you are old enough to vote ( that is why we have a 18 year old voting age>)
