Most colleges grade on a 10 point scale, so that would be better since the point of secondary school is to prepare you for college.

The 93-100, etc. one is better because colleges will know that your grades were harder to earn. It is better to go to a challenging school, rather than coast through with easy A's. I went to a highschool that was a 94-100 A, and I really can't remember any of the other increments. I teach now in a 10 point scale grading system and it's ridiculous. Everyone makes honor roll pretty much, which is a good thing except that if everyone has it, is it really an honor? Oh well.

I have little doubt that when I was in high school they used a similar numeric scale.
However I did have a history and a math teacher that used the Bell Curve and I found that challenging in that a single student could crash my best effort. It motivated me to do better in class.
Later during college and graduate school the Bell Curve was in 90% of my courses. I was glad that I had been exposed to the vagaries of "The Curve" before college.
I do like the fact that you make 73 the minimum for achieving a C grade verses the typical 70 cut off.
Note to SASSY...
Nice answer. I'm going to guess you would like the grading scale at you school to be...
A = 100 - 50 & B = 49 -0

Oh, I'd definitely support the change.
In my younger grades, I was on the ten-point scale (90-80-70), then in sixth grade, I moved, and it switched to the 93-100, etc.
Really, the basic goal of secondary schools is to prepare its students for college. In college, everywhere uses the 90-80-70 scale, so I don't see why some schools feel it is necessary to use anything different.
That, and the ten-point scale is a lot easier to remember. ;)

I think I would have to say I would go with the 100-90 A and so on because most college grade this way and if they don't then the teacher has their own scale. I think the second way would prepare students for college, but really....I think students are only going to what they have to do to get the grade they want....so maybe the first way is better because they have to strive alittle harder to get the A they want.

I would prefer the first score because it is a harder scale.
The 90-80...scale is just lowering the standard.

I say the first choice because it makes people that really do care about there grades want to try harder to acheive that A that they really want. My school also goes by the first one.

My school uses the 1st one. And personlly, I think that one is better. It is harder to get a better grade, but then you have that sense of acomplishments. And when you go to college, they will know you worked harder and will reach their expectations. well, good luck :)
