Is it safe to get on birth control for a couple of months then get off for only one month, then get back on the next month?

For one thing it will screw up your system as far as regularity with your periods.

Secondly, you are not protected against pregnancy when you're off of it for the month and for the month you go back on.

Take it continuously.

Let me first say that I am not a medical person, but as I understand it, if you are off the pill for even a month, you would need to be on it again for a full month before it is effective. So that first month you go back on, you'd need a back-up method to be absolutely safe. To be sure though, I'd check with your gynecologist or other medical professional. Good luck!

I got pregnant that way! I think you have to keep the hormone in your system. I wouldn't risk it!
