you should tell him or else you'll always wonder what could have been, but that's the chance you take.

Look, the boy may be cute, but he doesn't read minds like the Amazing Kreskin. Use that mouth and voice that the Good Lord gave you and talk to the kid!!!! You don't have to be overly aggressive or anything like that. If he flirted and stuff with you last year, he must have liked you, and I'm sure he still does..so just be yourself. Maybe nothing more happens than you just go back to being friends. That's OK...take it from an ancient relic...as you go through life, ya need all the friends you can get. Maybe over the summer he decided you weren't so cool, and that he didn't like you so much. That's OK, too...it's his loss, not yours...and besides, I'm pretty sure there are other good guys in school. If this doesn't work out, just keep being yourself, and you'll catch the attention of someone else who is attracted to your unique qualities. But for right now, take the initiative and start talking to Mr. Love Interest, test the wind to see how things are blowing, and ease into this "feelings" subject. (Don't wait for him--in case you haven't noticed, the male of this species doesn't do the "feelings talk" very well...if at all.) An ancient poet once said "You have to know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em" (OK, it was Kenny Rogers, but he's older than me, and that makes him ancient.). This is not the time to fold up...I'll give you the same advice I gave some guy here a couple months ago...Go for the gusto, swing for the fence, grab the brass ring, wind up and throw that Hail Mary pass, jump in with both feet, pull the goalie, kick it up a notch...in other words Go For It...good luck.

Gosh this happened to me over and over again in those years I was in High school. I never had the guts to ask the question and my pride dissolved every possible communications.
I went from one flirt to another with different boys and forgotten all about the one first love I met in first year. Guess what now we are both married to other people and NO we never actually know how we felt to each other in those years, we never even talk about it!!
Please don't do what I did. Try to chat with him first, see if he replies nicely to you or see if he even responds. If he does, then maybe you can try flirting again before telling him how you feel. If he doesn't respond or reply nicely to a "Hi How are You?" then get on with your life and get another boy!
Honestly to you, broken heart CAN be cured if you don't make a drama out of it! Best of luck!
