I want to work on my computer in the RV. it is a fairly new Laptop (say 2004) and I want to use a GPS program for laptops, but I have heard rumor that it will ruin the screen if you travel with the laptop open. does anyone know if this rumor is true?

Rumor is garbage - been a computer geek for years... and something like travel in an RV should have no impact on the screen.

In the long term of course, strain from movement (bouncing, opening, closing, blah blah blah) wears a notebook more than a desktop. Which is recognized by the changes in how companies value computers - three years for notebooks, five for desktops.

Anyway - grand scheme, makes no difference - the gforce protection for notebooks, even the hard drives, far exceeds anything you could do in an RV (outside of driving off a cliff... that would kill screen and probably circuit board - though HDD would probably survive...)

Peace,

-dh

I travel with mine, not open all the time but when I need it I open it. Didn't hurt it...works great.
