If you think she is having a life threatening emergency, call an ambulance or take her to the emergency room. She cannot be turned away, and they will have to give her the right meds. Do it as often as you have to until January. Outside of that, call the consumer or action reporter at your local TV news station. They may air her problem, which will in turn motivate the insurance company. No one wants bad press. Best of luck to you both, try to have a happy holiday season.

The quickest way would be to explain to the doc what her delimma is and see what he can do. Many have tons of samples.

Contact the drug companies directly-some have options for free meds for persons with limited means.

In Mexico you can buy meds without a prescription (not narcotics) for a fraction of what they charge here.

Go to a county hospital. They should be able to give some of the vital medications and stabilize your mother till her insurance kicks in.

I'm sorry for your problems! All I can say is, try to approach the pharmaceutical companies that supply her medication. She may be able to get a compassionate 'sample' to hold her over until Jan. Good luck!

Churches be able to help some, she may be to young for your local council of the aging but give them a shot anyway I know my local one is well connected. Your local health care clinic, and her Doctor may all have good suggestions for your area.

It hasn't happened to me but that's what we as Americans get for allowing our Govt. to make Health Care a Privatize ordeal. Good luck.

Call the United Way or Catholic Charities (even if you aren't Catholic!) ASAP. Maybe they can help.
