Black Sabbath...they invented the all the guitar riffs we here today. All rock and metal bands have been influenced by Black Sabbath at one point or another in their careers.

Thinking of the what the word 'rock' rings about, it should be AC/DC for me too. Simply because they captured the very essence of the genre.

Being a rock musician today you can take or leave Zeppelin, the Stones or the Pistols as an influence, but what the Aussies did - no way. AC/DC will be the major influence and inspiration on EVERYTHING that is played with guitars, and tries to sound rock for a while... (Thinking of Pendulum, maybe not only rock music.)

You just asked a question of a million answers! This aught to be interesting. Of course, we all have our own opinions when it comes to music. My thoughts are as follows: KISS, the greatest rock band ever influenced acts like Poison and Garth Brooks, The Beatles influenced many, such as KISS, Deep Purple was another that influenced a lot of hard rock bands, I know when I used to write and play in a band, I believe that our biggest influence was Judas Priest. I think these answers will show the age groups here like no other. Merry Christmas

Led Zeppelin was the most influential rock band of all time, and to prove my point, when you hear or read interviews with rock musicians and singers who came after them ,most would say that it was Led Zeppelin who influenced them the most.

The Beatles. There would be no "rock" music if it were not for them. Before that "rock 'n' roll" had a swing feel. The Beatles were the first to have the hard driving down beat that is rock and pop music today.

That's a tough one. Their are a lot of influential rock bands, it impossible to narrow it down to JUST one. And it's NOT Nirvana, I can tell you that much. They highly overrated. You will get a lot of different opinions on this subject. In my opinion, I find that Pearl Jam is highly influential. They music is so powerful and life changing. The band members are wonderful people who try to make a difference in this world, not just through their music, but throught their work with various charities.
