My betta (a young male) has very light brown eyes (almost a yellowish- brownish- tannish hard to describe color) and his eyes actually SHINE in light and even in the dark... almost like a cat's eyes! Is it common for bettas to have eyes like that? I've never seen any other betta besides him have it...

My red betta's eyes are like that, though they're more of a gold color than light brown.

My blue and red betta's eyes don't do that though.

I've noticed a good number of my fish have very reflective eyes under the right lighting. My silver dollars have purple and gold in their eyes. And the zebra danios have a kinda yellow-gold shine to them. I think the neons might, too, though I can't seem to think straight at the moment.

I don't think it's rare, per se; I think you just happened to see him catch the right lighting at the right moment.

You got one unique betta there. Some fish can just be one of a kind like that.
