There are 40 weeks in a pregnancy but normally a woman only carries her baby for 38. Which is completely normal. That is why if you look at your conception date and your due date they are actually 9 1/2 months apart not just 9!

The typical pregnancy is about 9 months. There are about 4 weeks in each month. So there are around 36 weeks in a pregnancy.

Typically, the doctor will count 40 weeks gestation as "full term". You can be + or - a few weeks (38-42) and it is still considered full term.

40 if you count from the first day of your last period, 38 if you use gestational age. Anything after 38 weeks is considered full term.
