The report that Letterman is getting 30 mil a year to stay on CBS makes me wonder what is wrong with them. The last few years has seen a steady decline in Letterman's ratings and show content. I rarely watch the trash He puts out and wish the Networks would dump Him and Leno in favor of better entertainment. Watching guest stars push their Books, Movies and tours does not come across to me as being worth that much money. How do You feel about it??

Letterman has lost interest in His own show. The few times I wasted time watching it reminded me of when the old vaudeville acts were over the hill but kept doing live shows. The lack of new material worthy of looking at is really terrible. Leno manages to present some interesting skits but Letterman just does not seem to care anymore. Lets hope CBS wises up and cancels the show because of bad ratings. They should have put a ratings requirement in the contract. I really believe they secured his services cheap and the 30 mil is just to save his reputation. Letterman and his sidekick are not worth 10 mil yet alone 30.

Letterman has thrown in the towel when it comes to trying to outdo Leno. You know it is bad when Nightline is even gaining on both Leno and Leterman. The salary of Letterman and Leno should be tied to the nightly ratings they can pull in. That could encourage them to put on a show like Carson used to do. Having people who are pushing their movies or books or concert tours does not require a person with a big contract. It is like the viewers are too dumb to understand the show is just an hours worth of commercials for actors or politicians.

For a while Letterman was the only thing worth watching on CBS. He is in a rut now, but that is not just his fault, that is also because the quality of Holywood "stars" is pathetic. I hate some of Letterman's weekly routines like "will it float", etc. They are pathetic.

No, it isn't worth that much money, but that's what the talk shows are about. I agree with the other answerer, the celebrities are just not that interesting. If the most interesting thing a 'celebrity' does is not wear underwear and marry a loser.............snooze.........
