How funny! I just asked my doctor the same question today!

My baby is 4 months old, and my hair over the past few weeks has been falling out like crazy. The doctor said it's normal and it's due to hormonal changes. You shed less when your pregnant because of physical changes as well as the extra vitamins (if you took them). It's not that your losing more hair than ususal, it's just that all the hair you didn't shed while pregnant is coming out.

Not to worry, it's fine. I have broken a belt or two on our vacuum cleaner, though.

Totally normal.. Hair doesn't fall out as much while you are pregnant, so after pregnancy all the extra hair falls out.

Yes, when your pregnant your body holds lots of nutrients. That's why women have thicker hair when they are pregnant. When the baby is born the body isn't working the same and you tend to loose lots of hair that you most likely didn't loose while you were pregnant.

It is normal. Many women who are pregnant grow more hair when they are pregnant due to hormones and after you have the baby your body is getting back to normal and shedding the excess hair. If you are nursing your body is still off.

I had a bald spot on the right side of my head for several months after I gave birth to my daughter. I was breastfeeding and I'm not sure if that factored into the equation or not, but it was really embarassing. Fortunately, it grows back and hair loss is very normal after giving birth.

I lost hair buy the handfuls after I had my daughter. Keep taking the prenatal vitamins. Should stop by the time your baby is about 6 months old.

VERY NORMAL!! when you are pregnant your hair doesnt fall out the way it does when you are not and hair is on different fall out cycles. Once you have the baby, your hormones make it so all your hair, TEMPORARILY, is on the same cycle of fall out, so it seems like it is all falling out at the same time. It will stop eventually. Good Luck

yes. your hair gets stronger and stays (doesn't fall out as much) during pregnancy. So after the hormones decrease, your hair falls out.

totally normal.

Are you pregnant, or did you just have a baby?

Either way, the fluxuating hormones are to blame, and this is normal, as frightening as it is. Don't worry, hon. You won't go bald.
