GIve him a gift card to McDonalds or get him a ticket to a new movie and get yourself one at the same time, and then invite him to go with you.
That is not too expensive, and I know you probably don't have a lot of money.

You should get him sumthing that you know he wud like, that fits his personality if you know him well. For example, if you know what music he likes then buy him a CD. My boyfriend likes Tazmanian Devil, so imma but him this cute keychain I saw. I hope this helps you out !!!
