There are four Sundays in Advent. This year's season is the shortest one possible: the fourth Sunday is only a half a day on December 24th until 12:00 noon when it becomes Christmas Eve.

If you observe the Christian season of Advent, how do you observe it?

This year I am at a Church that structures the Sunday sermon around the specific meaning of each Sunday in Advent. And this year I am receiving a daily e-mail devotional for the season of Advent. I am a little disappointed because the new church I am attending does not light the candles, so next year I will be purchasing my own and creating my own tradition and find a good book/devotional to follow along with.

One thing I do to observe Advent is, use something called The Little Blue Book. It is six-minute reflections on the Infancy Narratives according to Matthew.. You basically take 6 minutes a day starting December 3rd, the first day of Advent and read from the book. I received the book from my church. I also picked up a children's Advent calender. It gives the children things to do each day to observe the Advent season.

Yes, I celebrate the season of Advent. We put out our Advent wreath and I have a book of Advent reflections and scriptures. Also, I am participating in an Advent bible study for women that begins tomorrow at my church. We have a book that we are reading about the coming of Christ and it is broken down into three lessons. Each lesson is broken down into six days and each day has 3-4 questions. Questions such as "which infancy narrative holds the most meaning for you and why?" or "what was the signifigance of the star at Jesus' birth?" "what do you admire most about Joseph?"
