I can also run my 17" LCD and it doesn't overload. I don't think an overload is an option.

Because the battery backup is not designed to provide running power for your computer, it is designed to provide sufficient power to complete activities and run the computer long enough to save work in progress and safely shut down the computer. In addition your 500VS UPS is only rated at 300Watts and that puts your system in an underpowered state.
