Calm down. Nobody is going to jump into surgery without plenty of testing and trying non-surgical treatments first.

I'm guessing that it wasn't an orthopedic surgeon who told you that you might need surgery. If it was your regular family doctor or pediatrician, you need to know that they know next to nothing about surgery.

Before you would have any procedure, you'd need to have xrays, maybe a CAT scan or MRI, and a thorough exam by a surgeon. Many, many times, you'd get an injection before you'd go to surgery. You may also be treated with special braces or shoe inserts, or physical therapy.

If your ankles bother you a lot, have your mom take you to an orthopedic surgeon for an evaluation.

Hope that helps.

Being scared is always a problem with surgery. Just think about the good things you will be able to have and not as much pain. I look at surgery as a way of getting better.

There's nothing anyone can tell you to make it not scary. It just is. However, a few months of recovery is worth not having lifelong pain and malformation. Your bones are constantly growing and the longer you put things like that off, the worse you are in the end. Don't think about being scared, think about the good it does in the end.

you wont feel a thing, i promise because of annestacia(the thing that makes you go to sleep). when i got surgery my mom didnt even tell i was going to get one. she told me that the docter was just going to check my blood so dont eat in the morning. so when i got there my mom checked me in and left. when they called me in they told me to change my cloth into their hospital cloth, and that were i was feeling terrifying. i was scared. then they told me to drink this pink thing that makes u go to sleep and read magazine. the next thing i know is i wake up and i have already gone into surgery.

good luck hope this helps and cheers u up, at least u have a mom who tells u ur going into surgery.
