yes it is safe and almost all the banks have you protected against any sort of frauds. it also depends if you have any kind of protection against spywares that might be installed on your computer.

Nothing is REALLY safe, but lets say its relatively safe.

Here are some tips to make your browsing safer:

1) Make sure your bank is trustable.

2) ALWAYS make sure that you're sending personnal information (username, password, bank account number, etc.) ONLY when the page is crypted (e.g. HTTPS).

3) Avoid any email that you receive from your bank. Trustable banks send you information by regular mail (paper), not email. Emails are easy way of "phising" you, e.g. making you believe that you are connected on the bank's site when actually you're not.

4) Install anti-virus and anti-spyware software on the computer where you will access the bank's site.

5) Don't access you bank's site from a public computer. Cookies may remain on the computer and give away some private information.

6) Don't forget to close your session when you're finished.

If you follow these rules, your experience will be much safer.

Good luck!

I have interacted with my bank online for years and there are no problems. Very convenient. Just remember that your bank will NEVER ask you for anything about your banking or personal data - they will never ask you to send them your passwords, your numbers, your user id, or anything, so if you get an email that appears to come from your bank, and that asks for any of your data, it's a phishing scam, so don't even think about it, and report it to your bank.

so far so good for me...and i have been doing it a few years now..

BUT NEVER EVER respond to an email from "your bank" that asks for your account number or any other personal info... if they need info from you they will not email you to get it.. if you get an email that says it is from Amsouth or Suntrust or whatever and it asks you for personal info..it is a fraud and not from your bank...

now you might get emails from Amsouth saying they will be closed for President's Day or something like that but NOTHING that asks for your personal info...

good luck!
