Bush said in a speech to big donors, "My constituents are the haves and the have mores." (Lastest "Rolling Stone," Princeton economist Paul Krugman's article).
How cynical is that?

Do you think his supporters are going to see it? Most of his supporters still believe we are in Iraq fighting terrorism. Sometimes I wonder if he doesn't stumble on his speeches and looks away so he doesn't bust out laughing at his own lies.

The irony surrounding the voter block that got Bush into power is so humorous, but also extremely sad. Much of Bush’s voter base that was instrumental in getting him and so many Republicans into office come from rural areas where wealth is a rarity, and yet they elect a man who brazenly flaunts his favoritism to the small faction of supporters that make up the upper crust of society; the top 1% in the economic bracket. Yet even with his cavalier disregard for his voter base so frequently on display in media snippets, his voter base is surprisingly loyal, almost oblivious to the fact that his administration, for the past 6 years, has been giving them the middle finger when they are in power, and only stopping to embrace them with a false act of warmth and understanding during election time. The utter idiocy of Bush’s constituency makes me declare that they deserve the President they desired.
