No, Still Stone, everyone does not know that the main cause of the Civil War was over taxes, rather than slavery. You can blame that on biased education. As others have said, the flag is a different symbol to different people. For most of the people who display the flag, it's a symbol of pride in their home. Southerners are seen as slow, drawling, inbred, uneducated racists when those poor souls only make up a small fraction of the Dixie population and have kin all across the country. The South is full of hospitality, good hearts and intelligence. It's also full of pride and people who believe in small government (state) versus Big Brother (federal rule).

i'm British, 28 years previous and an ex-Tory voter. (i'm vote casting BNP after this sorry lot.) NO i'd under no circumstances opt for to bypass to the US. i do not realize why all people might want to. I went there on holiday once and that i did not like it in any respect, that is a very alien custom. And the persons were rude, each thing change into miles remote from everywhere else and that i purely did not like it in any respect. in my view, i'd absolutely opt for to stay in Sweden, in the different case purely stay the following contained in the united kingdom. yet under no circumstances in a million years might want to i opt to stay contained in the US. i do not absolutely like something about american "custom." i'd under no circumstances stay outdoors of Europe.

I saw a white guy with a rebel flag help a black dude that dropped his books.
It still important to judge by overall character than outward appearances.

Where some people see heritage and Southern history, others see hatred, ignorance, and the accepting of slavery. It's a different symbol to different people, so there is no definite answer.

No it's not racist. Why not call the American flag Imperalist? By the same standard of calling the dixie flag racist it is also.

The South LOST . Get over it and put away the flag. Just the fact that it is offensive to so many should make you pause and think.
