If you don't know anything about guitars, you might as well spend less than 200 and get something to practice on for awhile. If you don't know brand differences, then how can you tell a difference in sound? Get a Fender Strat or something of that nature and maybe a decent amp.

Fernandes guitars are astonishing, yet ought to value somewhat greater. in case you have the money, i choose to advise the Vertigo Deluxe. it relatively is the terrific guitar you will ever purchase. For greater value-effective guitars, i've got continually enjoyed Ibanez electric powered guitars for their easy-compact layout that enables fairly basic and comfortable playability status up. i've got on no account had a bad Ibanez

Everyone has Fender Strats nowadays. I would tell you to get a Gibson SG, there awesome looking, beautiful sound, and it will last you a lifetime. Anything from Epiphone is great too.

Fender - They have lower priced Fender's for about 399.99.
Gibson doesn't really make any cheaper guitars.
Gibson does have a Faded Standard Gibson SG for about 549.99. Awesome guitar!!!

I say stick with Fender.
But if its your 1st guitar try Yamaha, it's not so painful on your wallet. Then work your way up to a fender.
peace.
