the reason is i downloaded 7 and my computer kept having errors, so i had to write zeros to the drive to get it to work right again, so is there a problem with keeping the old one?

I recommend Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/, it will import all of your bookmarks and settings automatically from IE. IE 7 has a different user interface from IE 6, and some people find it annoying. Check it out here: http://blog.outer-court.com/files/shaun-google-ie7.jpg

IE 7 has new updates and security fixes so it is a recommended upgrade.

Keep the old one. If it works, don't fix it. IE7 is new and has a lot of bugs.

Just get Firefox - IE is junk (which is why IE is held "at arm's length" by the Vista kernel - because it stinks!)
