I've never heard of anyone being named Memphis. I love creative names. And I love city names for people (as long as they're not Springfield or something). James is one of my favorite boy names, too. You get two thumbs up from me.
Does the city have a special meaning to you? (If he was conceived there, NEVER tell him that's why you named him that...it will traumatize him, haha!)

I think he will thank you more if you make Memphis the middle name instead of the first name.
James Memphis. That way he can still be called Memphis when he gets older if he chooses to.

It's a cute name. I like Dallas James more but Memphis James sounds good too.

James is one of my favorite boy names. I vote with the James Memphis crowd. Memphis makes me think of mumps, and it would probably come out on the playground as that or worse.

OMG, please tell me you're kidding with the "Memphis" part. James is a really nice name but don't name him "Memphis" and if you do, at least put it in the middle so he has a little bit of a choice when it comes on to being called that.

I think the name is good in theory. But I think James Memphis sounds better. :) Good Luck!

well the name Memphis is different so you decide I named my son David James I liked the bible name David and James came from my father.Congratulations and Good Luck

A name is forever - Don't saddle this poor baby and future man,with such a silly sounding name. At least call him James

Don't name your boy after a city, try a name nobody is using like James John.

That actually is very cute!!
Is there a connection to the place or did you just like how it sounded? Just wondering...Whatever the reason I think it's a good choice...And remember if people tell you he'll get made fun of......Kids get made fun of for many reasons...and with the names out there today I don't think you'll have to worry!!!...LOL
