Daphne was a nymph who was pursued by Apollo. She turned into a laurel tree, and Apollo started the tradition of giving laurel wreaths to the winner of athletic games to honor his love for her.
Apollo's son, Ascelpius, was associated with healing, snakes, and a staff with one snake twined around it, the proper medical symbol.
Hyacinthus was another guy turned into a flower. Apollo? Dunno.
The poplar trees were the sisters of Phaethon, son of the *other* sun god, Helios aka Sol. Phaethon tried to drive the sun chariot and failed. He died. His sisters wept. Out of pity, the gods turned them into poplar tree.s

The one with two snakes, found by clicking the link below? Yeah. That was used by mercury to lead the dead to the Underworld. http://www.american.edu/cas/images/caduceus.gif

1. The Pleaides were seven nymphs who followed Diana. Orion fell in love and pursued them a long way. Diana turned them into a constellation to save them.
2. Orion was Diana's friend, a great hunter. She killed him by accident, provoked by Apollo. (It was an archery contest, and she didn't know what the faroff speck of target was.)
3. Sirius... I think he was Orion's dog...?
4. ?
5. NONONO. That was one of the *other* moon goddesses, Selene aka Luna. She fell in love with him, and had him sleep eternally so she could never lose him.
6. Yeah, that would describe Diana well.
7. Queen Niobe had 7 sons and 7 daughters, so she said the people of her city should worship her instead of Latona, Apollo and Diana's mother. This made Latona upset, so Apollo and Diana killed most of her children. So Niobe was sad. The gods turned her into a rock out of pity. Her tears welled up in a spring.
