What is it like there? I live in Ohio and can't seem to find any pictures online that shows what it is like. I would love to know more about the area.

I lived in El Cajon, CA for almost 4 years. El Cajon is near San Diego. I have traveled a lot of CA doing a tourist thing with my kids. Vista is a nice place. California is different because of the weather and the scenery. The mountains, the desert and the ocean all within reach. I know that is hard to imagine but it is so beautiful in CA.

Here is a link to the city of Vista. I hope it helps a little. You can even call the Chamber of Commerce in Vista and ask them anything and get a welcome package in the mail for free that will give you more info in your hands instead of online!

Don't forget to add it to your favorites because it gives you a current temp and everything on the website!

Also, the last site has all the stuff a mom would want to know about the community her son is now living!

In general Vista is a more affordable part of San Diego County. It is a good loction if your son is attending Palomar College or CSU San Marcos. Vista isn't far from Oceanside where Camp Pendleton is. In general it is a relatively safe community but there probably aren't any pictures online because there isn't that much to take pictures of.

Depends on which part of Vista. Vista ranges from quaint oldtown area(a little beyond it's prime) to typical SoCal subdivisions (homes on 50X100 foot lots where you hear your neighbors alarm clock) to Barrios ( ethnic latino neighborhoods with food and shopping) to the court and jail area to homes on 2 to ten acres.

Vista has neighborhoods from near poverty level to million to two million dollar homes. It is pretty hard to peg this town into a general description. We have lived next to Vista for many years. It is a bit strange at times, the viking festival is next to a active latino nighclub up the street from the best Indian food restaurant in SoCal. Rural roads, major arteries, but almost always scenic if you just look around and see the wonderful rolling hills. Hope this helps a little.
