i don't know where those two people got thier information from, but they're somewhat wrong.

the fact is video game systems MAY damage TV's...tube TV's, traditional projection (not DLP) and plasma units do have this pheonomon that can occur known as "burn in". have you ever walked up to an ATM and even after the picture changes, you notice there's darker areas that are still there? that's burn in.

in traditional TV's inside the glass you have little phosphers..i'm not sure exactly what they're made of, but when they're shot with the electron beam, they get excited and glow..and as they burn, they do in fact wear down. the reason we never notice it is because most images on a TV aren't static for very long, so the amount of time a phsopher stays lit is short. however, go back to the ATM machine..those things show the logo of the bank all the time...so, the damage is accelerated and literally, the phsopher burns.

ok, so, you're like, how does this relate to video games...well..because the same damage can be done by video games. games have a lot of static images on the screens...scores...status displays, various things that don't move..after a few years (or thousands of hours of gameplay), you'll start to notice those areas of the picture might be slightly darker.

do they really damage the units that bad? well, depends how much you game. if you game a LOT..then yeah, you're likely to maybe cause some kind of damage..espically if you have a traditional type of projection TV..the projectors in these produce a LOT more light than a normal tube and the phosphers burn a lot faster. I've heard of people with TiVo DVR's who have burn-in from thier fast forward/rewind bar.....

even tho plasma isn't a tube based technology...there is plasma gas that burns...and they too can start to get burn in effects.

it doesn't matter what gaming system it is..this can happen from ANYTHING...the logo bugs on TV channels can actually cause it...with the ever increasing amount of the logos being displayed...

as far as the wrist strap problem...if you're playing in a position where you're going to be able to send an object hurling DIRECTLY at your TV, if the strap breaks, oops. it's a lesson of watch where you are....no one said you have to stand IN FRONT of the TV to play...

gthe answer is simple if the image stays on the screen to long, over 4 hours on a plasma, 6 on a rear projection, and 8 hours on an LCD the image can burn-in however this can be fixed by using a special DVD that introduces a certain type of gray color that restores the image.

Only if you buy a Wii.

The wrist-strap horror stories are true. I would've NEVER believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself.
